Okay, so it's not the ‘summer’, which is when EA told us Reckless Racing would be out when we previewed it, but Polarbit’s hillbilly racing title is finally live in New Zealand, which means it'll hit the UK App Store at around midnight.

Reckless Racing is a top-down racer featuring six traditional American South vehicles blasting across eight rural circuits (or, if you’re me, into a ravine).

It allows for two different levels of handling, depending on how difficult/realistic you want the vehicles to behave, and has about a billion different control methods. Actually it’s just five, but each can have the virtual controls moved around the screen freely, so my claim still stands.

Cross-platform multiplayer for up to four players over wi-fi and an in-built Lobby system with chat is all supported at launch, which makes a nice change from waiting for an update (hello FIFA), and there are leaderboards for single-player Dirt Rally and Hot Lap modes.

Reckless Racing will be available in the UK from midnight priced at £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39 for the iPhone version and £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99 for the iPad.
