Polarbit will be taking the covers off its latest entry in the Reckless Racing series from midnight tonight.

Reckless Racing 2 for iPad and iPhone takes the series away from its Deep South roots and onto a more traditional 'fast cars going fast' track.

Thankfully, you're still able to pull off those crazy powerslides the franchise is famous for, despite the shift in focus.

This new title has over 24 "routes" to blast through, a more expansive single-player career mode (featuring upgrades and purchasable vehicles), as well as an Arcade mode with 40 challenges.

There are now 17 drivers to pick from, including the cast of the original Reckless Racing, plus the ever-handy customisable control schemes that allow you to place the buttons on-screen any way you want them.

Online multiplayer also makes a return, while the graphics have been significantly ramped up, allowing for even more horrific-looking drops into the abyss.

Reckless Racing 2 will be drifting onto the US and UK App Stores from midnight tonight, priced at £2.99 / $4.99.

Be warned, though: this Universal app is only compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, the third- and fourth-generation iPod touchs, iPad 1, and iPad 2.
