Fans of driving sim Real Racing should be checking the App Store on their iPhones right about...now.

Aussie developer Firemint’s Gold Award-winning racer has received an update primarily geared towards owners of Apple’s one-week-old smartphone.

Gorgeous new graphics that take advantage of iPhone 4’s Retina display are in pole position, while three-axis gyro support for more precise controls sits alongside them on the starting grid.

Further down the field comes multitasking support for effortless switching between a tight chicane and an urgent email via the new tray.

Miscellaneous bug fixes, improvements, and smoother visuals on iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G rest slightly disheartened at the rear of the racing pack.

Take a peek at the improved Real Racing artwork in the gallery above.

As a side note, make sure you check out Firemint’s other bit of top iPhone totty, Flight Control, in the Game Developers World Championship. The line-drawing sensation is currently battling it out mid-air with Romania’s fab Skies of Glory.
