Real Racing 2 is being worked on in that award-winning game development shop down under, Firemint.

The Australian-based developer made the game official in a brief announcement, promising more details on the racing sequel to come soon.

We can only assume the game is heading to iPhone and iPod touch with a potential iPad version in the making; however, the release of Windows Phone 7 and rising popularity of Android could make them an attractive alternative.

Regardless of what devices on which the game will be released, expected fine-tuned simulated racing that raises the bar not only in terms of gameplay, but graphics too.

Online multiplayer, vehicle customisation, and damage modelling are among a short features wish list.

Firemint hasn't committed to a release date - not even a vague 2011 release window - but you anticipate more details on Real Racing 2 in the near future.
