To be honest, we weren't particularly impressed with the latest episodes from that Gallic cartoon action hero Rayman. Neither the DS or the GBA versions managed to summon up that certain joie de vivre that has infected the best Rayman games of the past.

So let's hope that Ubisoft's Paris studio manages to up the fun as they get to grips with Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. Potentially there's plenty to build on – the Raving Rabbids themselves are great – but we need more in a DS game these days than average platforming and some touchscreen mini-games between levels.

It seems like there's a good basic set-up to build on. Rayman has to disguise himself to infiltrate the Rabbids' shopping mall base, as once again they attempt to take over the world. Skins, hats, accessories and clothes, resulting in over 500,000 different costume combinations, will be available to dress up Rayman, as well as create your own Rabbids.

Plenty of popular culture spoofing is also promised: something neatly demonstrated in the game's teaser trailer below, although Activision, for one, might be less than amused at the Transformers send up.
