Those of you into your massively multiplayer online role-playing games might have heard of Ragnarok Online - a Korean MMORPG featuring all the usual dungeons, levelling-up and monsters you'd expect, set in a manga world you might not.

A while back, the game was announced for DS, but all has been a bit quiet since and this silence has prompted the few who might have been keeping an eye on it to speculate that it might never materialise.

However, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has run some news on Ragnarok Online DS - and in the process confirmed that a) it still exists and b) it will - as its title suggest - retain the PC game's online play. Just on a slightly smaller scale, with only three players able to team up to play the game's 50 multiplayer dungeons.
The game's control system seems to replicate that of the PC version, with the stylus replacing the mouse to attack enemies and use skills and items. However, much of the rest of the game is significantly different with a new lead character and storyline and new jobs which include a dark knight and a shamen.

Currently, Ragnarok is only scheduled for release in Japan, where it's due to be released on December 18th. You never know though - it could be localised for Europe seeing as the PC game is available here. Admittedly an MMORPG for DS which only supports three players might not be the biggest news for fans of the genre - but at least it could be a decent new RPG. Watch this space for more details on it.
