Since its release in 1989, Jamie Woodhouse's fruit-snatching duck platformer Qwak has appeared on a bunch of different platforms.

Woodhouse published the original game on BBC Micro and Acorn Electron, before Team17 picked up the rights to release it on Amiga. In 2006, a good 12 years after the game's last outing, Woodhouse took Qwak out of retirement and shoved him on the Game Boy Advance.

Now, Qwak the duck will see his next adventure on the iPhone. The game features a constantly colour-changing duck who flies about fast paced, frenetic worlds picking up coins, fruit, and magic potions.

It's all painted in retro pixel-art and accompanied by a chip tune score that wouldn't be out of place on the Amiga.

Whether or not you've ever heard of this British gaming legend, its nice to see some old favourites heading to the iPhone. Now if only we'd see Superfrog and Chaos Engine on the App Store.

Qwak has been submitted to Apple, and will hit the iPhone and iPod touch soon. See the game's trailer below:
