First Quantum of Solace screenshots spied on DS

That Quantum of Solace: The Game was coming to consoles isn't exactly an MI6-level secret. That said, Activision has to date kept information locked away as though a matter of national security.

Turns out it was only waiting for E3 to disclose details.

Alas, the majority of the features mentioned – first-person action and third-person combat systems, advanced reactive enemy AI, large scale battles mixed with covert sequences – currently relate to the home console versions.

But there are elements that should be universal, such as the fact that the game dips in and out of the plot arch of the Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale films, so expect locations inspired by the likes of Venice, Bolivia, Austria and Montenegro.

And if you look at the first set of DS shots released (be careful not to strain a neck ligament), apart from suggesting the game is played by holding the DS vertically, they clearly show Bond engaged in third-person shoot-outs and hand-to-hand combat, as well as other 007-like favourites such as zip line use. Meanwhile, the left-hand display appears to alter between a map (that handily points out baddies) and your item management screen.

Doesn't look too bad, does it? Of course, several other DS-specific details need to be established before we're seduced like a Bond girl by 007's latest virtual outing. For now, we'll say there's promise evident. Expect a full report as soon as we uncover anything else.
