We told you back in August 2010 that classic SNES game Putty Squad was making its way to the iPhone, iPad, and Sony's PSN. Unfortunately, 2011 is almost over and it still hasn't materialised.

According to publisher System 3, the iOS version of this memorable platformer will launch "a few months after" its PS Vita and PS3 counterparts. Those are expected at the European launch of the Vita in February, in case you were wondering.

In System 3's 1994 adventure, you take on the role of an amorphous blob, who can stretch, inflate, bounce, and flatten to nab items and save his friends.

You can collect stars as you progress through each of the game's levels to unlock new skills, such as the ability to blow darts and electrocute enemies.

Whilst we are aware the iOS edition of Putty Squad will debut around May 2012, there's still no word on price. We'll let you know as soon as we do, though, of course. Stay tuned.
