First Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice screens and video

We doubt it's the type of activity covered in the manuals down at the Hendon police training college, but in the world of Sony's special police unit, jumping from moving vehicles before unloading a clip into the driver's compartment is all part of the daily grind. It certainly proved to be a fun if somewhat lightweight occupation when encapsulated in Pursuit Force, one of the PSP's more interesting and original releases of 2006.

But, as is the way with sequels, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice is well... more extreme.

Just check out the pre-rendered video (which Sony stresses has been created using in-game assets):

Impressive eh? But perhaps it's the screenshots that provide the more significant information. Not only is there is a first-person view (which looks like it comes into play when the vehicle you're driving has in-built weaponry) but throughout the game imagery has been buffed up. So instead of jeans and tshirt, the characters now come kitted out in figure-hugging leather jumpsuits, complete with six-pack detail. The bad guys – this time, you'll be taking down five gangs including the piratical Raiders, the Viper rogue coppers, and the Syndicate bank robbers – also have vehicles that, thanks to their spikes, blades and crudely daubed symbols and teeth, look like something out of Mad Max. More focus will be placed on the final encounters with bosses, too. As for other features, Sony's promising over 50 missions (adding up to more than 20 hours of fun) spread through seven environments. Available vehicles to jump between include jet skis, trucks, buses, bikes and speed boats, as well as old favourites such as the mini-gun-equipped police chopper, and new additions such as hovercrafts. Multiplayer will be boosted with four-way modes, and the game will be supported with downloadable content packs. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice is due to be screeching out of the blocks sometime this summer.
