Adriano signs with Pro Evolution Soccer 6

You'll see him in the World Cup in Germany, and he's coming to a billboard near you too

Adriano signs with Pro Evolution Soccer 6

Konami has announced Adriano – the Brazil and Inter Milan striker – is to be the 'pan-European face' of the eagerly-awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1982, Leite Ribeiro Adriano started his career for Brazilian league club Flamengo, before signing for Inter Milan a year later. He made his international debut for Brazil against Colombia in 2000, and has been a permanent fixture in the squad since the 2002 World Cup.

Since then, Adriano's pace and skill has made him one of modern football's most dangerous strikers, especially when paired with his infamous team-mate Ronaldo.

Konami will be bringing Pro Evolution Soccer 6 to PSP and DS (as well as PC, PS2 and Xbox 360) in the Autumn. We're particularly looking forward to the DS version; as we said in our review of FIFA on Nintendo's machine, the DS still awaits its first decent football title.

As for Adriano, he'll appear on Pro Evo packaging across Europe, with other local players to be announced shortly.

"I am really looking forward to working with Konami on what everyone knows to be the most realistic football game around," Adriano said, we're sure without any prompting from Konami.

("Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is known worldwide for its quality and I am delighted to be associated with such a fine series," he added, doubtless before asking where to sign.)

We'll really be feeling like we're earning our wages by dragging ourselves to watch, sorry, 'research', Adriano when Brazil kicks off its World Cup campaign against Croatia at 8pm tomorrow night.
