New Prince of Persia DS dated for end of 2008

Specific handheld version to appear alongside console games in time for Christmas

New Prince of Persia DS dated for end of 2008

Ubisoft's new Prince of Persia game, which was announced last month, has cropped up on the company's release schedule slotted in with its 'Q3' releases.

Which, as this refers to the financial year ending in March 2009, means the title should be with us sometime between October and December this year. Okay, so it's not a firm release date, but it's a bit more narrowed down than it was previously.

The new game in the series will be released on DS as well as Xbox 360, PS3 and PC (sadly no PSP version), with the handheld version being designed especially for the console by including its own new storyline and characters.

Ubisoft has also said the game will feature a "new breed of gameplay" and a new cel-shaded graphical style.

The publisher is holding a worldwide press event at the end of May, so we're hoping the game is to be shown for the first time then (which, with its planned end-of-year release, it ought to be). Or at least that more details on this 'new breed of gameplay' will be revealed. As ever, watch this space.
