Freeverse is bringing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies slasher to iPhone

There's no doubt a deep socio-political point to be made about the formal belief system of Regency England versus late twentieth Century inverted obsession with the possibility of inanimate life after death.

No doubt there is, but in the case of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which has just been announced for iPhone and iPod touch by publisher Freeverse, we're just going with the "rollicking action title with the perfect blend of zombie slaying action and touching romance narrative" approach.

It is a truth...

Announced in conjunction with the release of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, the prequel book to Seth Grahame-Smith's original mashup, the game follows the themes of the reimagined version of Jane Austen's novel about the life and loves of Elizabeth Bennet, and her social group, with added zombie battles, of course.

The gameplay follows the traditional action-based 2.5D perspective and will support the Plus+ gaming network for achievements (beheaded ten zombies during high tea with a cakestand, we hope), and leaderboards.

The game won't be affected by ngmoco's acquisition of Freeverse, so will be a paid-for title, not freemium, although there's no word on exact cost yet.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is due for release sometime in April - post-iPad - for iPhone and iPod touch.
