Canadian studio IUGO is perhaps best know for its Toy Bot Diaries and Lil' Pirates (published by Capcom) games.

But now, it's going all rhythm action with newly announced title Pricklees.

All we've got to go on is a video of a spiky character jumping, ducking and rolling to the beat, picking up collectibles in the process to gain perfect status.

The game will be released as a freemium title for iOS, with three playable characters and additional content via in-app purchase.

We're assuming it will launch on iOS but also come to Android and Windows Phone 7 as soon as those platforms get around to enabling in-app purchases.

IUGO also says we should expect three levels of difficulty "for tons of replayability," while the game will come with seven electronica tracks, backed up by more songs in future updates.

You can see what it looks like in the following video.
