Independent mobile game developer, Faces of Mars, has adapted a range of old Popeye themed pinball machines to the mobile platform - offering an unusual take on the square-jawed sailor's adventures.

It's definitely a new approach to a character license, converting not only a game but the entire system mechanics to a different type of technology. But digital pinball games have proven to work extremely well in the past, so we hold out hope that Popeye's old flipper and bumper action translates well to the micro-screen.

The tables look quite authentic on the screenshots, and in a high enough resolution to ensure there's lots of variety in the pseudo-pinball gameplay. Keep a close (Pop) eye on our further coverage by hitting 'Track It!'. Just don't tilt the table when you hit the button.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
