It shouldn't come as a surprise that PopCap is working on some titles for iPhone, given its existing relationship with Apple (having released several iPod games).

However, PopCap's James Gwertzman has reiterated the developer's excitement at the potential for iPhone gaming, in an interview with our sister site, PocketGamer.biz.

"We love the iPhone," he says. "I've seen some of the stuff we're working on in our lab, and it's a terrific gaming device. The screen is beautiful, it's powerful, and the interface is incredibly intuitive."

Meanwhile, PopCap is also preparing to launch its third mobile game, which Gwertzman describes as the developer's best yet (and considering the previous two were Chuzzle Mobile and Bookworm, that's some claim).

Sadly, Gwertzman wasn't able to spill the beans on what that third game will be, or on specific iPhone releases. But rest assured, we'll be bringing you details as soon as they emerge.
