Polar bears are great, aren't they? They're big warm cuddly animals who like to frolic on the ice with their friends the penguins, drinking Coca Cola and wearing Santa Hats.

Okay, so they're actually razor-clawed beasts who live on the opposite pole to penguins, eat a carbonated-drink-free diet, are threatened by global warming, and have heads too big to fit the average hat. But don't spoil our happy vision.

Anyway, there haven't been many polar bears in mobile games thus far, but Hong Kong developer Artificial Life is changing that with its new title, Poli The Bear.

You play three polar cubs, called Roli, Boli and Moli, who are captured by greedy hunters. Your job is to escape, grow big and strong, then return to eat them. And their families.

Alright, that's probably not the idea. Instead, Artificial Life created the game to raise awareness of the effect climate change is having on polar bear habitats, and will donate 10 per cent of the net income from sales of the game in Hong Kong and via its own Botme portal to wildlife charity the WWF.

The game is out now in Germany, too, with a release in other countries following close behind.
