Back in November, Pocket Gamer awarded Aspyr's Poker Pals a much-deserved Silver accolade, but lamented the title's lack of an in-game chat function.

Today, the poker-meets-Scrabble title has finally been updated with the ability to chinwag with opponents while you play. The upgrade also introduces support for Apple's iCloud.

The latter feature means you can begin thrashing an opponent on your iPhone, pick up where you left off on your iPad, and finish them off on your iPod touch. You need to own all three devices to do so, though, obviously.

Stick it to 'em

If you're yet to play Poker Pals, it tasks you and your opponent with asynchronously laying down playing cards on a Scrabble-esque 7x7 grid, with the aim of constructing poker hands. You know, like a pair or a straight.

You carry on playing until the entire grid is chocker. Naturally, whoever has the most points when this happens is crowned victor.

Poker Pals is available for your iPhone for 69p / 99c [buy], and for your iPad for £1.49 / $1.99 [buy].
