Months to wait but first news of the Diamond/Pearl edition leaks

It’s very early days for the first proper instalment of the Pokémon series on DS but there is some news leaking out about what we should be expecting when Pokémons Diamond and Pearl are finally released in late 2006 or early 2007. Perhaps most important is the revelation that the games will be online enabled.

Doesn’t sound like much, maybe, but considering the multiplayer turn-based card structure of the Pokémon games, the ability to hook up with other players without worrying about wires is a big deal, especially as Nintendo will be pulling out all the stops by offering cool prizes and rare downloadable Pokémon species. No doubt there’ll also be a competition to find the best Pokémon trainer in the world, too. Better start practising...
