Pocket Heroes is a new fantasy turn-based strategy title for Windows Mobile enabled handsets. All of the usual fantasy gang are here, with barbarians, wizards, warlocks and necromancers all making an appearance.

The game certainly looks heavy on variety, with 36 heroes to choose from, each boasting specific primary and secondary attributes according to their race. Other core elements also appear to be present and correct – build a city, attract loads of outlandish creatures, train said creatures and then start a fight. Simple!

The developer, iO UPG, claims that the game moreover contains RPG elements, as the characters can be levelled up for battles, but we'll wait and see when it comes to this particular boast. The ability to level up an assortment of mystical beings does not alone an RPG make.

Even so, whether or not it is the first mobile turn-based strategy RPG hybrid, Pocket Heroes still looks like it has the depth and variety to match some PC games in the strategy genre.
