It's the time of year to get scary and that's certainly going to be happening on Pocket God island.

The latest episode, which has been submitted to Apple, is called Barking Spider, Crouching Pygmy and features 'a humongous spider' as well as a 99c reskin pack containing all things Halloween.

Over on the official Pocket God forum thread, Bolt Creative's Dave Castlenuovo explains the update as such:

"We are introducing a humongous spider into the graveyard island. We've retweaked combat with the T-Rex and the Spider to make it more challenging and also added it as a challenge that you can do with friends. There are new achievements for combat based on the lowest number of spear throws it takes to knock one of these down and I have to say, it's pretty hard."

And you can drag a pygmy into the spider's web, call down a small spider down to cocoon it, and then trigger a bunch of baby spiders to eat the pygmy from the inside out. Nice.

As part of Pocket God's ongoing strategy, a 99c, €0.79, 59p download pack will be available too.

This is Halloween-themed and so contains new versions of objects such as the volcano, the bird, and the doodler.

Finally, Castlenuovo reveals he plans to have three more updates out before the end of 2009. "It will end up being a new trilogy and will include a new location, something a lot of people have been asking for," he explains.

Pocket God is available priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p. Hit the Buy It! button to go to the App Store.
