It's Christmas. That means the staff of Pocket Gamer is drunk, if not on alcohol then on the giddying sensation that comes from receiving numerous expensive presents.

All this frivolity means we're not writing stories today. To enable you to connect with us in a different way - one that doesn't involve the transmission of news, reviews, and features concerning the world of portable gaming - we've decided to go on about ourselves a bit.

The Pocket Gamer editor Rob Hearn on the left always lies, and the Pocket Gamer editor Rob Hearn on the right always tells the truth. One of them guards the door to the world's most authoritative, comprehensive, and erudite portable gaming site in the world, and so does the other one.

You have one question. What will it be?

Favourite portable gaming platform?

Probably iPhone because it does a lot besides being a portable gaming platform, and because it's driven certain kinds of innovation and the games are cheap on it.

Though, really, DS.

Favourite portable game of the year...

Flick Kick Football was a surprise. I wasn't expecting to like it because it's a football game and I'm terrible at and hate football. But it's not really a football game: it just uses football as a wallpaper, and it does it in quite a charming way.

...and of all time?

I've probably sunk most time into Tetris on Game Boy, though I don't remember enjoying it particularly. It was like meditating, but in a way that made me furious roughly every 15 minutes as the shapes overwhelmed me.

So I'll say Super Mario Land, also on Game Boy.

Favourite home console game of the year...

Heavy Rain was interesting, as was Red Dead Redemption, which showed once again that Rockstar is better at making places than it is at making games. But I'll say God of War III because it was about a shouty bald man.

...and of all time?

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Whatever the secret ingredient is, that game has it.

Will you be getting a 3DS?

I probably won't buy one at £200 or whatever the price is, but I'm keen to see one in action and will graciously accept one as a gift.

What are you hoping to get for Christmas?

A couple of games and many books. The book I'm most hoping to get, which has been on my Amazon wishlist for months, is The Shallows: How the Internet is Changing the Way We Think, Read and Remember.

What's your new year's resolution?

To write a book.
