GameStop CEO hints at 'fall' launch for PlayStation VR

GameStop CEO Paul Raines might have just given away the launch window for the PlayStation VR - and it's later than you might think.

Officially, the PlayStation VR is still due to release in July, but with no pricing information and no solid release date, whether it will or not is anyone's guess at this point.

Paul Raines doesn't seem to think it will. During a FOX Business interview Raines said "Virtual Reality is on it's way " before clarifying "We'll be launching the Sony product this fall, and we're in discussions with the other two players".

Did he just let slip the launch window for the PlayStation VR? It's a tough one - one negative aspect of Sony's closed ecosystem is that even though their hardware is complete, Sony will have to wait for the software to catch up.

There's a chance he misspoke but with GameSpot's commitment to being the number #1 destination for US hardware sales, it seems like he'd know where he was on the matter.

Sony will be wanting to make sure that their opening line-up for the PlayStation VR is a strong one, so a delay wouldn't be too surprising seeing as a fall release would put them on the far side of E3 and all of the hype and games that can bring.

Let's not forget that Fall also encompasses a little thing called Christmas, too.

How do you feel about the delay? Are you happy to wait a few months to get a stronger launch line-up? Let us know in the comments below.
