Sony renames Project Morpheus to plainer Playstation VR
|

At its pre-Tokyo Game Show conference early this morning Sony announced that it will change the name of its Project Morpheus virtual reality headset to a much plainer name: PlayStation VR.

Project Morpheus is dead. Long live Playstation VR.

Sony announced Project Morpheus back in March last year: a VR headset primarily designed to work with the companies PS4 console.

There's still no idea of launch date or pricing but it has hinted at a release date in the first half of last year - along with all of the other VR devices currently being touted by manufacturers.

Sony is betting big on the Playstation VR with Eurogamer revealing a new studio being set up here in the UK to work exclusively on games for their virtual reality headset.

Several VR projects were shown off in a new trailer with the name announcement, including Cyber Danganronpa VR, a Hatsune Miku demo, RIGS, The Playroom VR, and Final Fantasy 14.
