Sony has taken the old chestnut that "virtual reality games can't be social," sniffed it suspiciously, and tossed it over its shoulder straight into the bin.

At its E3 press conference, it revealed that Project Morpheus will support four way local multiplayer - meaning blocking out the world with a pair of giant goggles won't be as anti-social as it sounds.

So, if you're sat on a sofa with three other friends, each with Morpheus headsets, you can play the same together in the same way as if you were holding a normal peripheral.

To prove the point, the Sony clever clogs also pulled the curtain back on Rigs - a 3V3 multiplayer arena brawler.

The clip was brief and the details scarce, but first impressions look good, and it marks the first game of its kind to be unveiled for Project Morpheus.

Fingers crossed that more titles in the same vein will follow shortly.
