Freeverse is becoming quite well known for equipping simple (yet entertaining, to be sure) games with a beautiful sheen of digital paint.

The latest addition to its catalogue, which is currently under submission to the App Store, promises to continue this trend.

Plank requires you to carefully manipulate a pile of marbles balanced on a board using the iPhone's motion sensing controls. Tipping the marbles around as more fall from the top of the screen so their colours match up appears to eliminate them from the pile, making this something of an intriguing, physics-based hybrid of Bejeweled and Tetris.

What we really like is the stunning steam punk styling and atmospheric backdrops, which really look like they'll bring Plank to dynamic, marble-rolling life. Hit 'Track It!' to stay informed, and check out the video below while we wait for the game to land on the App Store.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
