Pirates Of The Carribbean goes multiplayer on mobile

Disney yo ho ho's with a bottle of fun for this cutlass-wielding epic

Pirates Of The Carribbean goes multiplayer on mobile

I'm Jack Sparrow. No, I'm Jack Sparrow. No no no, I'M Jack Sparrow...

Hush your squabbling, you can ALL play as Johnny Depp in Disney's upcoming mobile game, Pirates Of The Carribbean Multiplayer.

Due out on this summer to coincide with the next movie (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which opens worldwise on July 7th) the phone incarnation is an online multiplayer game that has you sailing about in a pimped-up galleon laying waste to forts, blowing up ships and cackling over your doubloons.

The gameplay is a simple mix of steering your ship about and shooting when anything gets into range, whilst picking up power-ups to boost your cause, such as invisibility, for example.

There's also a host of community features surrounding the game. You'll be able to set up 'guilds' with your friends in order to play against them or with them – some game modes will be collaborative. And you can send in-game piratical taunts to your rivals.

Somewhat confusingly, Disney claims the game will enable up to 100,000 players to play simultaneously, but adds that these will be divided into individual games of 16 players each.

Pirates Of The Carribbean Multiplayer is being developed by Floodgate Entertainment, which has been sweating over the game under the working title of Swashbuckler for a year now, before signing the deal with Disney.

We've got a sneaking suspicion its going to be jolly (roger) popular, so if you don't want to end up as Jack_Sparrow60578, you better make sure you "Track It!"
