Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End coming to PSP and DS

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End coming to PSP and DS

Let's be as blunt as a rusty cutlass: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was terrible – that's both the film and the game (well, the PSP version, certainly) – so the prospect of playing through the sequel has us reaching for the grog.

However, being forgiving, inebriated souls, we're prepared to give the franchise another chance.

Due May 25th to coincide with the release of the cinematic equivalent, At World's End enables fans of the series to play as either Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner or Elizabeth Swann, while fighting their way through events and locations inspired by the second and third films.

Little detail has yet surfaced, other than the fact each version (it's also coming out on home consoles) will supposedly fully exploit the advantages of the host hardware. We'll wait and see how the experience differs on DS and PSP (they're being developed by Amaze Entertainment – who did a reasonable job with the DS version of Dead Man's Chest – and Eurocom, respectively).

At this point we could include a quote from a representative of Disney Interactive Studios, the game's publisher, but frankly it's the usual marketing nonsense you'll read every time someone announces a new game: how it's obviously going to be brilliant and give the fans everything they want, blah, blah, blah.

We're pretty sure that's what they said about the last one so, if it's all the same to them, we'll hold the excitement and reserve judgement until review time.
