Pigs get their revenge on pesky birds in rapid-fire line drawer Pigs in Trees

It's all about pigs and birds these days isn't it?

Well, Danish developer Tactile is taking opposite sides to Finnish outfit Rovio in its new iOS release Pigs in Trees.

Of course, as with the egg-stealing pigs in Angry Birds, there's no reason given why these particular porkers are living in trees, or why these angry birds want to destroy them. It's just the way it is.

Taking a line-drawing approach to gameplay, you have to control your porking pilot, drawing lines to specific targets to lock onto them and shoot them down, even as they move. If you don't, they'll break through and destroy your tree. Game over.

However, the trick is that the pig plane will automatically fire ahead of itself as it passes enemies. This means you can combo up your kills by judging ahead of time and planning a line that will take out multiple enemies before you hit the lock-on.

The rub is some of the attacking birds need to be approached from the front as they drop bombs out the back, while others fire from the front, requiring sideways or rear attacks.

Throw in a bunch of power ups such as acceleration, repair, spread fire and the result is a neat arcade game that keeps your fingers on the move.

Pigs in Trees is out now for iPhone and iPad. The iPhone version is priced 99c, €0.79 or 69p, while the iPad HD version is $1.99, €1.59 or £1.49.
