Like the races I used to have with my brother around our grandparents' tiled carpets, so here comes PicoGP - the self-styled first flick racing game on the iPhone.

From French developer Mad Monkey Studio, it's supposed to be perfect mix between dexterity and strategy.

You select your car and then flick it around the track. Neatly you can only switch gear once per turn, so you'll have to use the curves and find the best trajectory to win the race.

Of course, there are unlockable cars with different characteristics, plus completing the three championships will enable you to win the ultimate car: the Dominator.

Other modes include Time Trial, where you can race your ghost, and challenge your friends over Facebook.

There's also a hotseat mode so you and up to five friends can hand around your iDevice and flick your cars around the track.

Finally, you can even try and win real world prizes such as Formula D and Pitch Car board games by posting your scores online via the Chip & Dare Championship.

And here's how it works....
