A dark, dank English winter is exactly the time to consider sunnier things, such as picnics. I'm guessing that's the motivation behind Assyria Game Studios' Picnic Panic.

But what's this?

It's not a game about a pleasant picnic experience. Instead you spend your time splatting the bugs who are out to spoil your rural idyll.

Indeed, the name of the game is to continually splat bugs of the same type to build up your bonus points: something that will happen until a different type of bug gets hit.

There are four locations in which this squashing takes place, and as you get further into the game, the more resilient the bugs become.

Of course, you can always compare your skills thanks to the online scoreboard for each level, which also includes leaderboards for friends and local players.

Picnic Panic is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p. Hit the App Store button to open the hamper.
