Out now on the New Zealand App Store, Pan Vision's platformer Piclings has an intriguing new gimmick: you can use your own photos as level backgrounds.

The game will randomly generate enemies and power-ups and spread them across the backdrop, and it's your job as hero Picazzo to collect all the coins on each stage and dodge your prickly foes.

It's a universal app featuring Game Center integration, level sharing between friends, and a stage editor.

Developer PAN Vision was previously resposible for iOS titles Mariachi Hero and Pirates vs Ninjas vs Zombies vs Pandas.

Piclings is available to download now for New Zealanders, costing $1.29. US iPhone owners can pick it up around 11pm EST priced at $0.99, while UK users can expect it to arrive around midnight for the princely sum of 59p.
