The adage in poker is 'you gotta know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em', and arguably no one knows this better than 11-times World Series of Poker champion Phil Hellmuth.

So the fact that he’s decided to have a hold on Oasys Mobile and Connect2Media’s new poker game, Phil Hellmuth’s High Stakes Hold ‘Em, is an encouraging sign for pocket poker players out there.

Launching in the US this week, High Stakes Hold ‘Em features head-to-head play against a virtual Phil, with training offered for wannabee world champions in order to improve their play.

There are also multiplayer tournaments running, with the prospect of the real Phil dropping in on games at random to give unsuspecting mobile gamers a fright (by thrashing them senseless and taking all their virtual chips, no doubt.)

Phil Helluth’s High Stakes Hold ‘Em is out now in the US, with other territories to follow in 2011.
