Announcement press release incorrect, apparently

Civilization Revolution not coming to PSP after all

Usually, E3 is a time for announcing games, so it's somewhat refreshing (though saddening) to learn that the PSP version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution isn't actually being developed, as initially revealed two weeks ago.

The original press release clearly indicated as much – as did Sid Meier himself, in fact – but 2K's E3 line-up communiqué lists Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS versions only. (And while no one at 2K was able to get back to us in time for publication, other reports claim the publisher has confirmed the omission of a version for Sony's handheld from that list is not a mistake.)

It's a disappointing revelation, not least because it's a game that could have worked very well on PSP, as well as providing the platform with the kind of diversity it would undoubtedly benefit from – it's not exactly blessed with good strategy games.

Still, we obviously remain very keen to see how the experience will translate to DS when it arrives next spring.
