Rocky Balboa fights his way on to PSP

Game to coincide with favourite fictional boxer's final film outing

Product: Rocky Balboa | Developer: In-house | Publisher: Ubisoft | Genre: Film/ TV tie- in, Sports | Networking: wireless (adhoc)
There's something to be said about growing old gracefully. You know, accepting the fact your body is winding down, getting itself comfortable as it approaches that inevitable final voyage.

Equally, there's something to be said about going out fighting. And if your name is Rocky Balboa, you live in Philadelphia, and you were once a worldclass boxer, that's the option you'll always go for.

Rocky's been fighting on cinema and TV screens since the seventies. But even though he's now a retired, widowed, and lonely old man, an ESPN sports show simulated fight between Balboa and the current champ, which sees the youngster beaten, rekindles the interest in the former title holder.

And sure enough, when presented with the opportunity for an exhibition fight, it's a challenge Rocky is more than willing to accept.

Thus, we have the premise of the film and more than enough to base a game on. Yet while the game is obviously influenced by the latest movie, don't expect a direct translation.

For a start, the screenshots released to date clearly feature veteran Rocky opponents from the boxer's previous cinematic outings, such as Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago, as well as latest contender, Mason Dixon. And anyone wishing to relive those classic encounters will agree that can only be seen as a good thing.

The other comforting thing you should be able to tell from the screens is that the visuals look as though they'll pack a punch worthy of Sylvester Stallone's beloved character.

But other than that, at present Ubisoft is keeping the information well-guarded. Expect more news as soon as we've exposed a weakness in its defence – click 'Track It!' to be automatically informed of any such developments.
