Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 announced for PSP

New instalment due this autumn

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 announced for PSP

Just as football fever reaches a half-hearted climax here in the UK with regards to Euro 2008, Konami has chosen to reveal the not-so-surprising news it will be releasing a new Pro Evolution Soccer this autumn.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will be coming out on PSP (as well as PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PS2) but there's no news on a DS version. Then again, the last version came out during a different time frame on DS (and Wii) than on the other formats so it might still happen.

Konami is apparently set to unveil "superior gameplay and incredible realism" in this latest game. An extensive array of new additions will act to further bridge the gap between real football and PES on your PSP. And graphical updates will mean the players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts, while new game tailoring options, moves, control elements and online modes will further enhance the experience.

"PES 2009 looks set to reaffirm the series' utter superiority," says Jon Murphy, PES project leader for Konami, while displaying his unorthodox keepy-uppy skills by using a PSP. Probably. "We are committed to extending the realism of the new game with a wealth of key gameplay additions, and will produce a football title that truly embodies all the skill and pace that is good about the modern game."

We're just looking forward to all the usual stuff. Such as finding out which football stars will adorn the game's cover and the arguments about whether it's as good as last year's or whether it's being broken. It's the same sequence every year, after all.

We look forward to seeing what Konami does with it this time around.
