According to a source speaking to CVG, Logitech is working on a third party peripheral that will allow PSPgo owners to play UMDs.

"The only problem is that it'll make the PSP a little bulky," says the source.

Those who have a UMD collection from their old PSPs will no doubt be happy should the rumour prove true.

Logitech's UK office told CVG, "We're not aware of it, so it may be something the US office is working on."

This isn't the first add-on for the PSP (a hard disk existed for the older PSP versions), so it doesn't seem so unlikely when you also factor in the flak Sony received for not including the UMD drive in the first place.

The Tokyo Game Show had developers talking about the inclusion of said drive into the PSP-4000 model, so while we may see a PSP with an official UMD slot, it looks good for those who recently shelled out for the PSPgo.
