Sony’s John Koller: PSP Minis service “absolutely not an app store"
And still no news on the PSPgo UMD issue
As we reported the other day, Sony has used the GamesCom show in Cologne to expand upon its plans for a micro-game service entitled ‘Minis’. Just don’t call it an app store.
Speaking with Kotaku, Sony head of marketing John Koller said "it's absolutely not an app store," adding that "We're not going to have, 'Find Your Parked Car' and those kinds of things."
Based on that comment, anyone who maintains that Apple hasn’t ruffled the feathers of a few console giants is clearly deluded.
The Mini program will present a “constant stream” of downloadable bite-sized games weighing in at under 100MB. Head on over here to take a look at a few of them in action.
Koller was also quizzed about the ongoing PSPgo UMD issue. It’s yet to be confirmed how ‘upgrading’ PSP owners will be able to transfer their existing UMD disks to the download-only PSPgo, but Koller was unable to provide any clarification.
"We do realise that there is a very strong legacy and we have a strong historical relationship with those who have purchased PSP,” he said, “ but we really have nothing to announce quite yet on that."
