PlayStation Store now live on PSP
Firmware v5.0 is here
Firmware v5.0 and everything that goes with it is here. A couple of days ago we heard it was imminent in the US and now - as you can see over at the Sony site - it's now arrived here too.
The firmware's main new function is the ability to access the PlayStation Store directly from your PSP and download content straight to the console.
It also gives you a sleep timer for when you're listening to music.
If you want to upgrade to it, you'll want to make sure your PSP battery is charged first then - the easiest way - it to use your PSP to search for system updates.
The official site says that to access the Store from your PSP, you'll need sufficient free space on your memory stick for it to function properly. So if you're downloading a 500MB file, you'll need double the amount of free storage space.
Now let's just hope Sony gives us lots of content to download.
At Tokyo Game Show, it was announced Sony Japan would be making all its first-party games available to buy and download from the Store, including LocoRoco 2 when it arrives next month.
