PlayStation Network has a PSP sale

Premium games dabble with Minis pricing

Product: PSP news | Manufacturer: Sony
It's being touted as a sale on the US PSN store, as a handful of PSP games are given a price drop to fall in line with the budget PSP Minis range.

The five games on offer, according to Destructoid, are echochrome ($4.99), Super Stardust Portable ($4.99), Unbound Saga ($4.99), Brain Challenge ($4.99) and Myst ($9.99). Some pretty decent titles, with at least one Gold Award winner among them (being echochrome).

Exactly how long the promotion is running I couldn't rightly say, but it's an interesting turn of events in the wake of the PSP Minis launch. In all likelihood this is every bit as much of an experiment as a sale, with developers and publishers testing out the shallow end of digital download waters.

No signs of similar price drops over here in the UK yet, but we'll keep a close eye on the Store and let you know if any of these hot PSP delights go Mini.

Oooh, hope there's a PSP sale here too :-) I have echochrome, which is pretty good, but I'd probably pick up Super Stardust and Myst out of the games mentioned.

It will be great if some proper PSP games get a low pirce instead of the usual PSOne classics. I bought Theme Park from the PlayStation store for my PSP, and it was horrendous. The screen looked just awful and I've been put off buying any more PSOne games even though they are really cheap.

What the American PSN is calling a "sale" is what we see as "special offers" on our PSN, I think.

Not the same list of titles, but today's update does include the echochrome discount.

Here's the full list of "on sale" (or "special offer") titles available from the PSP store this side of the Atlantic:

1. Echochrome Micro (PSP) (Was – £6.29/€7.99 Now – £3.99/€4.99)

2. Syphon Filter: Combat Ops (PSP) (Was – £7.99/€9.99 Now – £3.99/€4.99)

3. Command & Conquer (PSone) (Was – £3.49€4.99 Now – £2.39/€2.99)

4. Command & Conquer: Red Alert (PSone) (Was – £3.49€4.99 Now – £2.39/€2.99)

5. Command & Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation (PSone) (Was – £3.99€4.99 Now – £2.39/€2.99)

These prices are good until the 19th of the month, apparently.

Thanks Colman. Does anyone know if the Command & Conquer games work properly on PSP? I'd love to get them but as I said above my one experience so far of getting PSone game for my PSP has not been good.

@Web Man, just to warn you, although I have not tried the command and conquer games myself, I have seen someone on a forum complaining that they actualy dont work properly on the PSP's latest firmware, where as they did before he upgraded. Just a note.
