Twitter comment from Shiny founder sparks further PSP2 rumours

Clearly we’re far too sophisticated to use a hackneyed metaphor like ‘there’s no smoke without fire’, but if we weren’t we’d probably expand it now to suggest that the last few weeks have been deeply smoky for PSP2 rumours, which Sony has been stamping out promptly.

They’ll probably die down a bit after yesterday’s news that the PSP has a frankly astonishing line up for 2009, but another one has sparked nevertheless from the news tinderbox that is Twitter.

Shiny Entertainment founder David Perry was spotted by VGTribune remarking on Twitter: “I hear Sony FINALLY has the PSP 2. And thank goodness, they’ve removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I’m excited!”

Of course, this is far from official. It could be that Perry is responding to rumours, or he could be trying to get gaming sites to write stories like this for a laugh.

It’s weak, in other words, but it’s hard not to report PSP2 rumours at this stage, in much the same way that once the mould in the mug under your bed reaches a certain floridity sheer fascination keeps you from rinsing it out.
