According to gamesindustry.biz, Sony has confirmed that Take-Two Interactive, publisher of brutal gorefest (under the company's Rockstar label), Manhunt 2, will not be allowed to publish the game on PSP (or PS2, for that matter).

The decision affects the US market, where the game has recently received an Adults Only rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Sony has a corporate policy which forbids the release of AO-rated games on its systems.

In the UK, the title was banned earlier this week by the BBFC, effectively preventing it from being legally sold at any retail outlet.

Since then, the Irish Film Censor's Offices has also banned the game, deeming it too violent for sale.

Rockstar is said to be evaluating the bans on a country-by-country basis, and continues to have the options of appealing against the BBFC and ESRB decisions or, potentially, altering the game for resubmission.
