IL-2 Sturmovik dives to attack PSP

We've already commented our surprise that a version of the feted combat flight sim IL-2 Sturmovik is coming to DS.

That the PSP is getting a version - also under the title IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey - is much more straightforward however. Over the years there have been plenty of widescreen flight sims: Heatseeker, M.A.C.H., Pilot Academy and WWII: Battle Over the Pacific to name just four.

This version of the game, which is also coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is being developed by SME Dynamic Systems.

It consists of 30 missions set across six major WWII battlefields. These are the Battle of Britain, Kursk, Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge, the Korsun-Cherkassy Pocket and the Battle for Berlin. The mission structure is non-linear and you can pick and unlock them as you want. Further encouraging your airborne feats of daring-do are 16 achievements to gain.

Over 30 aircraft are included, although you can only fly 14 of them. Modes include a head-to-head two-way dogfight option.

You can find out more about the game from the official website.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey is due for release on PSP, DS, and various consoles on 4 September.
