Sony has announced a new PSP video service will be available throughout Europe this summer. Called Go!View, the download service will provide Sky-selected TV content for users to download and watch on their PSPs.

A wealth of programmes are promised, ranging from entertainment, comedy and sport to movies - all of which will be available via download to your PC and then transfer to PSP.

Users will also be able to create their own individual TV schedules, to watch whenever they choose. Payment will be managed either by subscription - including typical Sky packages - or on a pay-per-view basis.

Potentially then, Go!View could add massively to PSP's already strong line-up of non-gaming applications, although we hope Sony's not focusing on these to the exclusion of games.

TV-on-demand is something lots of people seem to be getting into at the moment and it also would seem to be more more popular than buying films on UMD, especially if there's a well organised and simple payment system.

Of course, that sort of thing, including the pricing options, is yet to be announced. But, we'll keep you updated on all further news relating to the service as it turns up. Alternatively, you can watch some pretty animations on the official PSP website.
