Fans of cuddly rodent heroes rejoice! Sony has just released new screenshots of its next PSP release, Daxter, and very pretty they are, too.

Featuring the furry sidekick character of Jak of PS2-fame (don't worry if you've missed it, prior knowledge won't be required), the game offers 17 levels of run-and-jump action. There'll also be at least 13 minutes of what we are assured are hilarious cut-scenes, which see you play out Daxter's dreams as a series of movie-based mini games – this would presumably explain the Matrix-inspired screenshots you see included here.

The release date has also been confirmed as the 14th of April, so expect a full on review upon these pages before you can say, "just what sort of mammal is he?"
