300: March to Glory on PSP

You'll play as Leonidas as he leads his army against Xerxes – but information is rather Spartan at the moment

Games developers are often accused of looking back to the past when developing their new game concepts, whether it be to last year's best-seller or the classic games of their childhood. But you'd be excused for thinking Eidos has topped all that with 300: March to Glory – it's based on a bust-up that happened 2,500 years ago.

But fear not, topicality hounds. This new action adventure is actually a spin-off of an upcoming Warner Bros movie that's so 'upcoming' we haven't even heard of it before. Directed by Zack Snyder, previously responsible for Dawn of the Dead, the movie 300 will star lots of actors we've never heard of, such as Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham (actually, wasn't he in Lord of the Rings?), and Rodrigo Santoro.

More interestingly, 300 is itself based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller, the man who reinvented Batman.

Details are scarce on 300: March to Glory, as our more astute readers may have already predicted given the rather ponderous preamble above. We do know, though, that you'll take on the role of King Leonidas, leading your army of Spartans against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.

Fighting either in a phalanx right alongside your 300 Spartan warriors (hence the name), or solo, you'll wield a sword, spear and shield to triumph over the Persians, who are armed with rugs and cats. Probably.

Let's face it, we need more information. Hit 'Track It!' above to be alerted when we get it.
