E3 2012: Our top 10 most anticipated PS Vita titles from E3
Retro, Creed, Sacrifice
Amidst the glitz and glamour (models) of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony was showing off a strong upcoming line-up of titles for the Vita.
Pocket Gamer has been reporting on these games throughout the course of the show, but if you want the TL:DR on which names to seek out in 2012 and beyond, you need look no further than this article.
Have we missed something? Let us know what's got you all hot under the collar, in the comments section below...
Retro City RampageA loving homage to games from the NES, PC Engine and Master System era, this top down destruction-fest is full to the brim with references to Bionic Commando, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Super Mario Bros. and more, with a few cheeky swipes at recent efforts too.
Assassin's Creed III: LiberationWhile the last Assassin's Creed title on a Sony portable didn't exactly blow us away, Liberation looks to rectify that in two fundamental areas.
Firstly, the game will be running on a system that can easily handle a detailed open world environment, and secondly, it features what appears to be that rarest of creatures: a strong, non-sexualised female lead character.
Oh and she's not white either. Progress!
PS One gamesFine, this is potentially hundreds upon hundreds of games, but we're ever so excited to finally have access to our collection of PlayStation legacy titles, that we had to include it in this feature.
Having Vagrant Story sitting next to Resistance and Uncharted on our Home Screen will be a thing of beauty when the compatibility is launched this summer.
PulzAROf all the Augmented Reality titles coming up on Vita, this one looks like it's got the most potential to offer something a bit special. You're tasked with destroying incoming asteroids by lining up a laser with a receiver through a complex series of mirrors and prisms.
The idea itself is nothing new, but physically turning the AR cards to rotate objects on the playfield will make for a much more tactile head scratcher.
SunFlowersYou've no doubt already read our interview with Fabien Demeulenaere of The Game Atelier about their innovative, fully featured free-to-play puzzler for the system. And with the title picking up award nominations from its E3 showing, we're even more excited to get our hands on it proper.
Soul SacrificeKeiji Inafune, the chap behind Mega Man, Resident Evil and Onimusha, is hard at work on this horror soaked action title that looks like a cross between Monster Hunter and God of War.
To which we say: “when can we have it, and can it be out right now please?”
Sound ShapesA thoroughly curious little title in which progress is made by introducing different sounds into both the physical and musical landscape.
It's being brought into the world with assistance from an electronica artist and a world-renowned DJ. With its striking visuals and touch based controls, this one's got indie intrigue written all over it.
LittleBigPlanetThe E3 trailer for LittleBigPlanet hinted at a more involved story than previous iterations of the series - though it also retained the humour and good natured sense of fun the games have come to be known for.
With additional touch-based inputs to prod and poke your creations into life, this long-announced Vita showpiece can't arrive fast enough.
Call of Duty: Black Ops – DeclassifiedPractically everything we know about this behemoth of a release looming over Q4 of this year is its name and that it'll be a first person shooter.
Oh! It'll also have a comprehensive online multiplayer suite and will no doubt be one of 2012's marquee titles for the system.
When Vikings AttackRemember how you'd run around Power Stone chucking stuff at your mates inbetween fisticuffs? When Vikings Attack looks like the focus will be almost entirely focused on the former as you tear arenas apart in search of heavy / blunt / hilarious objects to launch at rival groups of Vikings.
Crossplay support to take on pals on their PlayStation 3s will also feature, so everyone can join in on the mayhem.
