Europeans must wait an extra day

Futuristic Vita space shooter Starlight Inception is coming to the PSN on April 22

At the risk of oversimplification, you'll know whether you want to play Starlight Inception the very second you look at its first screens.

It's a futuristic space shooter with its roots firmly in the realm of Wing Commander or X-Wing, and it's coming to the Vita as a download title on April 22 in North America with the European release coming a day later.

Starlight Inception is set "one hundred years from tomorrow," and chronicles the grim fighting of World War IV set in the inky black expanse of outer space.

It's also, according to developer Escape Hatch Entertainment, the first game of its kind for the PS Vita - a claim that we here at PG HQ can't refute.

We went hands-on with Starlight Inception at the beginning of the year and note that it featured a generously "complex control system" but also observed that it felt "impenetrable... by the fact that it's played with buttons and sticks rather than a keyboard and mouse."

Ironic for a space game, it also offered an immersive atmosphere thanks to the "radio chatter and static" that fill the air during missions.

We also liked the fact that "you feel like your own craft is quite limited in its abilities", as Starlight Inception is "a near-future scenario, and it feels appropriately close to our reality."

If all this sounds like something you'd like on your Vita, well... the wait is almost over.
