One of the best things to come from the aging of the original home console gamers is the fact that many of these gamers are now working in the industry.

We all benefit when such individuals land in positions where they're able to create games in the style of ones they loved in their youth - and the upcoming Soul Saga for the PS Vita, PS4, and Wii U is exactly that type of game.

Created by indie studio Disastercake, Soul Saga is described as a "story driven RPG" with environmental puzzles and turn-based combat system with a puzzle-y twist.

Enemies will demonstrate certain behaviours like hiding behind a shield in combat, and to overcome these behaviours you'll need to respond with the correct types of attack.

While Disastercake's Mike Gale isn't purely focused on the combat, he does note that discovering your enemies' weaknesses will be "one of the funnest" parts of Soul Saga.

In terms of the story, Soul Saga will follow the journey of a pair of intrepid youths who descend to the ruined surface of their homeworld which their ancestors fled 300 years earlier to escape a great cataclysm.

Unfortunately, the barrier between the ruined homeworld and the floating sanctuary for humanity in the sky is starting to weaken - and it's up to the pair of youngsters, Mithos and Elise, to set things right.

If this sounds like the sort of adventure that you'd like to play on your Vita, you only need to sit back and wait since the Soul Saga's already been successfully funded on Kickstarter.

If you'd like to secure some backer rewards or pre-order a copy for your Vita, you can head over to the Kickstarter page and donate between now and July 14.
