The beta build for Kickstarter-funded platformer Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is out now on PC, developer WayForward has announced.

The three-level beta is exclusive to backers, who helped Half-Genie Hero to nearly double its funding goal of $400k in 2013.

The beta build was originally due for release in August 2014, but was delayed due to the unexpected level of extra funding received.

Although the beta is only for PC, the final game is also due for release on PS Vita (including PS Vita TV), as well as PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

The previous game in in the Shantae series, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, came to 3DS last year. In her review, Nadia said "Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is packed full of good times guaranteed to please fans of platforming games".
